To:  Lin

From: Bob Madden

Re: 232 E. Penn St., Bedford, PA

Just a note of thanks for the restoration and refinishing work that you have done for me at the above address.

Only a person like yourself and your fine staff can appreciate the love needed to maintain a historic 1908 house.

Built for the Blackburn family, it has only had four owners, two generations of Blackburn, Dr. Rhinard and our family.

It is in close to original condition after renovations in the 1980's

Dr. Rhinard lived on the upper two floors, using the first floor for offices.

I know that with your help and expertise the new family in residence will enjoy this wonderful treasure.

Again thank you for your fine services over the years.

Bob Madden

Dear Lin,

Thank you so much for allowing us to borrow there fabric samples.  When you do the seats, will you please save us a piece of the fabric for when we go sofa shopping?

Also can we get copies of the "before" photos of all three chairs?

Thank everyone for your beautifulwork.

Let us know the progress on the chairs.  If they are done by Christmas, great!  However, if you have other customers really pushing for a "by Christmas" date, we can wait.

Take care,

Ruth Ann Seubert

Dear Lin,

We want to thank you again for the lovely refinishing and upholstery work you have done for us.  We are really enjoying our tables and chairs.  It was so good to find someone we could trust to work on these family antiques and restore them to beautiful condition.

The platform rocker looks great.  The fabric that was the first one you suggested is just perfect for the style of the chair, and it is so versatile that the chair could be used in any room besides the bedroom where we now have it.  Bob Did great work on restoring the broken part of the foot, getting all the detailed grooves to match the original.  The chair was really in need of repair to the frame and the cushioning, and it is now very comfortable.

The upholstered chair that was my father's aunt's chair is just lovely.  I love the way the fabric looks - a wonderful pattern for the style of the chair - and a strong material that will hold up well as I am sure this will be my favorite chair for reading.  I am so glad that you checked it thoroughly and did all the work that was necessary to get it back into good condition.  After seeing what it looked like when it was being worked on, it definitely needed a major restoration.

I have been using the extension table to work on my Christmas cards.  We are so pleased to be able to have the table displayed without having to hide it under a cloth.  I meant to show you where we have it down in our family room when you were here, but I forgot to take you downstairs.  It now has an attractive finish and looks great.  Please tell Bob that we are very happy with the detail work he did on making a new leaf to go with the curves of the table.  It will be very handy to have a leaf for the table, and the wood in the leaf it beautiful.

We are delighted with the antique drop-leaf table.  It is one of our favorite family pieces and it really needed to be refinished.  The graining in the wood looks terrific and you did a great job in getting all the parts of the table to turn out in the same shade since some of the wood had faded from the sun and there were some water stains.  We are also so glad that you and Bob were able to deliver the table since we had such a tight fit getting it into the car to bring it to you.

Our thanks to you and Bob and your Mother for all of your work.  You were so prompt in getting the work done and you did such professional and outstanding work - we would be gland to recommend you to anyone who needs pieces refinished, upholstered, and restored,

Sincerely,

Jere and Cathy Yohn

Dear Lin,

I really enjoy my refurbished Hoosier cabinet, particularly in its light green color you mixed.  The Hoosier is now the centerpiece of my remodeled kitchen.  It is hard to believe that the original battered cabinet (my great find at a local resale shop) could be  restored into the beautiful piece of furniture I now use.  It brings back memories of the Hoosier in my Mother's kitchen when I grew up.  Please relay my thanks once more to your staff for their expert efforts in this restoration project.

Sincerely,

Kathryn A. Freeburn

Lin:

I would like to thank you once again for the beautiful job you did on my table and buffet and to find an almost identical china hutch and chairs was incredible.  I have recommended you to friends and family and will highly recommend you and your wonderful staff to anyone.  Your payment plan is very convenient and you work with people (like myself) when situations out of our control occur.

So thank you once again.  I will be a loyal customer for a very long time.

God Bless!

Hi Lin!

This should be my final payment to you for my dining room table and chairs.  My Husband was home on leave from Iraq and was really impressed with your work.

I will eventually call you to refinish the two end tables in my living room.

Thanks again.

Love,

Lin,

Thank you for doing such a nice job with recovering the bar arm rests for the Benscreek Club.  Sorry for the delay in getting the payment to you.  I thought our meeting was last week bu we didn't have it until yesterday, Tuesday September 13, 2005.  Thank you again.  The color was perfect.

Dear Lin,
Just a short note to let you know I think the china cabinet is just beautiful. I can’t even find the words to say actually to describe how the new look makes me feel. The cabinet has always held a special place in my heart and now its even more special because how wonderful it looks. It looks great with all my miniature cup and saucers in it.

Dear Lin,
My husband and I recently had a drop leaf table and a library table restored and repaired by you and your staff.
The drop leaf table had been in my mother’s garage for years. This table meant a lot to me because it was the one that was in the kitchen in the house where I grew up. It is now my dining room table. The workmanship of all involved was wonderful. That table brings back such warm memories, like making pretzels and cookies, eating with dad (who passed away in 1974) and mom, and playing cards with the gang.
The library table came to you painted white. I believe that there were several other colors below the white. Once all the paint layers were removed, we were delighted to find out that it oak. When we came to pick up the table, it was amazing to see it. The table was a golden glow and had been restored to it’s original state. It is now in our library room. It is beautiful.
Thank you for all your hard work and time.
Sincerely,

Dear Lin and Crew,
Thank you for the beautiful job. I love it, enjoy it, and appreciate it. You are extremely talented! I also appreciate your interest free payment plan. This enabled me to have furniture refinished so soon. Please use me for a reference if needed. Hollie Mehalko has her Grandmother’s old chest and called me to see if I would recommend you. I said “YES”.
Thank you once again. I have a cedar chest and two end tables that need refinished and my Mom has two also.

Lin,
Once again a beautiful job done on all three radiator covers and the refinishing of my Grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. Especially thank you for not disturbing the Blessed Mother picture in the sewing machine’s drawer where the thimble would set. I’m sure it’s a touch of my Grandmother Lintner’s doings.
I can’t wait for the couch table you’re now working on. Take your time, the wait is well worth the craftsmanship and care you put into everything you touch. Truly a Touch of Elegance.
God Bless,
Linda

Hi Lin!
We are enjoying the room immensely and have had many compliments on the furniture. I tell everyone about you and your company and give my glowing references too!
I am thinking of making a table runner out of the same fabric that you used to upholster the chairs. Would it be possible to order a couple yards of matching fabric through you?
Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you again for your fine work. The chairs look great on the porch. I can’t wait to see what they look like with the new cushions.
And I am sure that will be a damn site more comfortable - - too bad the weather is turning cold. It is going to make for some chilly rocking—

Dear Lin:
Thank you so much for restoring an old piece of furniture to its rightful status as precious family heirloom. After we brought my grandmother Clark’s 100 year-old kitchen hutch up from the old family home in Arkansas, we knew we wanted to redo the dingy, wobbly kitchen hutch so we could more fully enjoy it. We had considered handling the task ourselves. We never dreamed that these pieces had a name, and therefore, we didn’t know we had a Hoosier. Fortunately, we found you, learned what we really hand, and then made the right decision to have a professional do the work.
We are overwhelmed by the wonderful job you and the staff in your store did in restoring our Hoosier. It left our house as an object suffering from nearly 60 years of neglect in a farm house, and returned from you wonderful care as a beautiful sideboard for our dining room. The obvious care and workmanship that went into the restoration are immediately apparent. All of the tinned boxes look beautiful without the old coats of paint. The glass doors have been cleaned and returned to their old glory. The careful paint job, and the parts you fond for the flour bin and sifter, completed the entire piece, and made the kitchen hutch such a joy for us.
Mary and I both sat around all that afternoon just looking and marveling at what has suddenly become the single most precious piece of furniture in our house. We intend to take some films to send to my mother so she can see what her mother’s baking center has become. We can’t thank you enough for a wonderful job. It demonstrated to us that is essential to have a professional handle items of family history that cannot be replaced. If you ever need a reference from a satisfied customer, give us a call. We are still just smiling with the pleasure of our beautifully restored Hoosier.
Sincerely yours,
Lawrence W. Rogers

While walking through the burned and water soaked rubble of my beloved little retirement home, tears streamed down my face. As I glanced over the few pieces that I had carefully selected before my husband and I left our big home and moved to the little house. Most of these things were sentimental and some were just loved. Than a name came to me, it was mentioned by my Nationwide Insurance adjuster, Lin’s Touch of Elegance. I was hoping she would be able to help me. As I looked at the mess again I began to doubt that she could.
She really surprised me when she came on such short notice. Carefully, she began to choose a few things that I thought were totally destroyed. Her kindness and new hope began to lift my own spirit, as she loaded all of the items onto her truck. She restored all of the items, in record time, back to their original beauty. Lynn also replaced many items similar to those I lost, some from her shop and some by taking the time to find thing very similar to the ones I had. Her prices were great and she was a true professional. There really are no words to show how grateful I am that Lynn was there to help, she is a great lady.
God bless Lynn and her staff. Her job isn’t just about money, it’s about her love, caring and understanding for any person or job she may take on.
Thank you Lynn and God Bless,

Dear Lin,
The work you did for me is so wonderful that I can’t let more time go forward without expressing my thanks. My dining room chairs that you refinished and upholstered are so beautiful and sturdy (now). Several of my 5 children have their eyes on the old trunk you refinished. And the “star of show”, the old rocking chair that was re-built, reupholstered and made into a comfortable seat that no longer feels like you’re going to fall thru to the floor.
It was a pleasure working with you and your staff.
Best luck in the future

Dear Lin,
I wanted to let you know how pleased my husband and I were with the three pieces of furniture you refinished for us. You did a beautiful job stripping and selecting the stain color for the two antique chairs from the Bedford Springs Hotel, and the re-caning job that your mother did on the chair seats is excellent. The smaller weave must have been particularly difficult but matches the chair back perfectly.
We were especially delighted with the restoration job you did on my grandmother’s old love seat. The new stain and upholstery seem to me to duplicate the originals, just as I wished. The expert restoration of the previously hidden mother of pearl inlay on the back was an added bonus.
We certainly will not hesitate to bring any additional pieces to you in the future.
Sincerely
Peggy Rothfuss

Lin:
The touches you made in my home must be acknowledged. So often we do not take the time to let others know that we appreciate a job well done.
You listened to me and you observed my lifestyle. Then you went to work and the results are fantastic. The mirror over my entertainment center changed the room so completely. The bucket bench in the middle of my kitchen is a very unique addition. Then there is the one-piece cupboard in my office, which adds so much warmth and charm to the room. I’ll not mention all the small touches, but they reflect me in an interesting way.
One last thought, your kindness and professionalism in the appraisal of the contents of the house at the time of my Mother’s death is most appreciated. You, and you alone, helped make an extremely difficult time a little easier.
My very best wishes in the future success of your business. As you know I am quite interested in the stock market, hopefully one day I will see your business trading on the Nasdaq. I certainly would BUY!
Sincerely,
Nancy Thomas

I have known Lin for approximately two (2) years. In that time she has refinished several pieces of furniture for my home. I find her work to be of the highest quality. The workmanship and materials put into the refinishing of furniture are both excellent. I find her work to be very professionally completed with every detail taken to assure that your furniture will be returned to you with the utmost care.

To whom it may concern:
I heard about Lin’s Touch of Elegance through the Wendy’s food chain, Lin Finnegan, owner of Lin’s Touch of Elegance in Bedford, did numerous jobs for Wendy’s up and down the East Coast. She comes highly recommended.
I contacted Lin on February 6 of last year about doing Winsor chairs that I was buying from Wendy’s. Lin made arrangements that same day and picked up 84 chairs at my business (approximately 75 miles). We dropped another 21 chairs off the next morning, February 7 at the Bedford location. Lin stripped, finished, reapired and reconditioned the seats. The chairs were ready for pickup February 12.
The service was the best I have ever used. I would recommend her for any restaurant job or restoration project. If you had any questions about Lin or her service, I would be glad to talk with you.
Sincerely,

Linda Finnegan from Lin’s Touch of Elegance has done an excellent job of stripping and refinishing the chairs for my new restaurant. I presently own Keystone Locksmithing and do not have my restaurant letterhead. Lin has also upholstered the seats and back of the some chairs.
I would like to highly recommend her business for any type of stripping, refinishing and upholstery work. The service is prompt, thorough, and very courteous.

Dear Lin:
I would just like to take this opporturnity to commend you on the work you did in restoring the chairs in the Library at Bedford High School. The chairs were in very poor condition when we sent them to you. You restored them to “like new” condition. In addition, you did it at about half the cost of new oak chairs. This was a great savings for the school district.
I would recommend your work to anyone who wants quality wood restoration. Please feel free to use me as a reference in the future.
Thanks for you help.

I am more than willing to write this letter of recommendation for Lin of “Lin’s Touch of Elegance.”
I think you’ll find her work to be of high quality and with as little delay as possible. You will also notice Lin is willing to work with you both economically and professionally.
You’ll also find the “Kwick Kleen” or flow over method of stripping that she uses to have little or no damaging effect on any piece of wood furnishing.

To whom it may concern:
Ms. Finnegan has refinished seven different pieces for me, working with combinations of a wide variety of materials. She is currently working on 2 other pieces of mine and I have several others waiting when those are completed. Her prices are competitive, het more than fair when one considers the effort involved. She provides extra services that are invaluable to me.
1. information and history of each piece to be done.
2. pickup and delivery of the finished piece.
3. authentic replacement parts.
That she loves her work is evident and her knowledge in the refinishing field cannot be denied; but it is Ms. Finnegan’s personal and professional manner that insures satisfaction. She takes time with each person to find out what they want. She makes recommendations and gives the owner options as to how the piece can be redone.
In other words, Ms. Finnegan allows the owner of each piece to be involved in the refinishing process. We, the owners, are encouraged to pick colors, fabric, stains…. So that the finished product will reflect our own individuality and lifestyle as well as the time period each piece originated.
How can someone be dissatisfied when they get exactly what they want?
To reiterate, I have found Ms. Finnegan’s professional and her judgment regarding restoration, impeccable.

Dear Ms. Finnegan;
I’m writing to thank you and your staff for the outstanding refinishing work done on the restaurant furnishings for Cross’ Diner’s of Bedford and Breezewood.
You have helped us recapture a “time of days gone by” with your ability to make old look new, yet it still be timely. Your countless hours of hard work, attention to detail, always meeting my seemingly impossible deadlines, are greatly appreciated.
The dining room and fountain seating, reupholstering and wood refinishing is of excellent caliber. The blue padded reupholstered booths are absolutely beautiful. One could only truly appreciate these magnificent accomplishments by seeing the before and after.
   Again, thank you for everything.
Sincerely,
Bill Cross

To Whom It May Concern:
Lin Finnegan of Lin’s Touch of Elegance in Bedford, PA approached me about doing my chairs while she was eating dinner at my restaurant one evening. She took one as a sample to show me what she could do for me. I couldn’t believe the difference and readily made plans to have my entire dinging area chairs done.
Lin took 25 chairs at a time and gave me replacement chairs in it’s place. My request was to take that many at a time. Her turn-around time was outstanding. She completed 57 chairs in two week’s time, starting February 21 and finishing by March 6.
I was so pleased with her work along with the pick up and delivery that I had her completely do two complete rooms in my house. She is a fantastic girl and I would recommend her highly. If you have any further questions, feel free to call.
Sincerely,
Johnnie

It has been my good furtune to have known Lin Finnegan in friendship and in business for about fifteen years. During that time she has restored many pieces for me including chairs, tables, decorator pieces, etc. Her workmanship is extraordinary! She is hard working and conscientious. No job is too small for her meticulous detail and no job too large for her boundless energy. She is extremely creative in restoration and most reliable and trustworthy.
She has also acquired select pieces for me at my request. I cannot say enough to highly recommend Lin’s Work. I do say I would trust her with the most valuable piece I own.

Lin,
Just following up on the cabinet. She loved it. I’ve attached a picture so you can see. It has been rearranged at least once or 500 times.
Thanks for all your help.

Hi Lin,
Just wanted to share the responses of my daughter Shannon and sister Teenie upon seeing the pictures of the furniture that you refinished for me.
Shannon said: “Mom, First of all, I saved looking at the desk until last, and it is COMPLETELY unreal. I mean you said it was beautiful, but I couldn’t have imagined it turning out like this
The dining room furniture looks fantastic, too. I was taken aback at first with the stain color, but I really like it. I guess, even though you told me how dark it was, I couldn’t picture it. Those pieces look great in the dining room. I can’t wait to see everything for myself! Thanks for the pics.”
Teenie said: WOW!!! Hard to believe that it is the same desk that was in the cellar!! Think that the woman is a miracle worker. You got you moneys worth. The buffet and china closet are beautiful. Did a good job with Mon’s dining toom too. You must be so pleased.”

Hi, Lin!
Wow- you area a worker! I think the table’s absolute beauty- and I’d love to have it. I’m just afraid that even with your generous reduction, it just ends up being out of my reach at this time. I’m afraid that my limit of $750.00 is just not going to be enough- and I’m sure that someone out there would gladly be able to pay you your full asking price! I con’t tell you how much I appreciate your working on the shipping end of things- you’re a treasure.
Sincerely,
Andrew J. Poleszak

Hi Lin,
Received the sewing machine cabinet today!!! It is absolutely “BEEUUTEEFUL”!!! Thank you so much for restoring it for me.
Anita sent me pix of the dining room furniture that you restored for her. Great job!!! The most dramatic refinishing was the desk. WOW. Hard to believe that it is the same piece of furniture.
It has been a pleasure working with you.
Thanks again for the beautiful work.

Dear Lin,
I gave you my parlor grand Steinway piano with its terrible pickled finish and grooves and burn marks from damage to the top. You gave me back my piano with an absolutely beautiful black satin finish that made it look better than the original shinier finish I remember it having when I was a child.
When I look at it now, I can almost hear the elegance of my Mother’s playing. You have brought back so many of my best childhood memories. My piano is now the most beautiful thing I own, instead of an eyesore.
Thank you again for all your hard work on it. You have given Carol and me a true splash of elegance and not merely a touch of elegance.
Please use this letter to let others know about your wonderful work.
Sincerely,
Fritz

To Whom This May Concern
I’ve recently had six pieces of furniture repaired and refinished by Lin and the work was impeccable. Four of the items were chairs that had been in my family for many years. My Grandfather left them to me and I wanted them refinished. I had a difficult time finding someone to do the work because the seats of the chairs required caning, and it seems very few people locally have that skill. I was happy to finally find someone who did have that skill at Lin’s, and the finished product was beautiful. I also had a bookshelf and bench refinished. Lin was able to add a decorative panel to the bookshelf as I requested and it turned out perfectly. I would strongly recommend Lin to anyone who needed furniture refinished. She does superior quality work.
Thank you,
Clarissa M. Berzinsky

Dear Lin,
I can’t remember how far back we go since you started doing refinishing in my home. At least 4 years and:
Inside hall stairs and
Banisters
Refinish doors
Wood work in hall
Built-custom radiator covers (4)
Gross Pop’s rocking chair from Germany
My Father’s foot locker
My Mother’s dresser
Accent table
Grandma’s library table
Smoker’s table
Fern Stand
And the beautiful refinished front porch banisters
Compliments from everyone, who stops in on my beautiful home. I bless you and thank you so very much.
Not to mention phone tagging questioning how or what do you think of this or that. You are trustworthy and honest from you to all your employees. I thank you… you are worth every penny!!
Peace and Love,
Linda

Dear Lin,
There is the check for the trunk and the shipping. I talked to my Mom and she is absolutely thrilled with hers. I just can’t wait to see mine! I’ll let you know when it gets here.
Thanks again for your work and care!

Dear Lin,
My husband and I recently had a drop leaf table and a library table restored and repaired by you and your staff.
Sincerely,
Vickie D. Tully

Lin,
Once again a beautiful job done on all three radiator covers and the refinishing of my Grandmother’s treadle sewing machine.
God Bless,
Linda
