Lin's Touch of Elegance

On October 15th, 2018, a hot water pipe burst in our downstairs area. It flooded over 1,000 square feet ruining much of the area including most of the furniture. 

We had some very expensive Henredon vintage furniture (a dresser and a high-boy). We did not know if they would be restored due to the water and steam damage.

When Lin and Bobby saw them, they decided they would try to restore them. Since the finish was very delicate we took the chance. When all of the pieces, came back to us we could see how much care was taken to restore them as best as possible. They look beautiful.

My husband and I are extremely pleased with the way they turned out. I would strongly advise anyone, who needs damaged furniture restored to contact Lin’s Touch of Elegance. I don’t believe you would be disappointed. If they cannot repair they will be upfront and tell you.

Fast, Convenient, & Very Friendly,

We have six structurally sound bar stools , but the seats were badly in need of repair, the original faux upholstery worn from heavy use. We considered buying leather upholstery on-line, and attempting to repair ourselves. But before we undertook this effort, we made an online search of upholstery services near Bedford and Johnstown, and found a few, including Lin’s Touch of Elegance. It is conveniently located in beautiful downtown Bedford, so we took one of the seats in to see what we could find. We were very happy with her large selection of fabric books & choices, and with Lin and her staffs helpful, pleasant and friendly manner in assisting with fabric selection and explaining what would be done to complete the job. And in a short time, we choose the leather fabric and placed an order. But now we needed to deliver the other 5 seats from our home 30 minutes away. So Lin offered to meet us midway the next day at a spot convenient for both of us to deliver the seats, saving us even more time! And just 4 days later she had ordered and received the material, and completed the leather upholstery of all six seats. The stools now look more beautiful than original due to her quality top notch craftsmanship. Thank you Lin for your personal touch, fast and so friendly service, and quality work. Our next furniture repair or upholstery need will be coming to your shop.

Once again a beautiful job done on all three radiator covers and the refinishing of my Grandmother’s treadle sewing machine. Especially thank you for not disturbing the Blessed Mother picture in the sewing machine’s drawer where the thimble would sit. I am sure it is a touch of my Grandmother’s doing.

Dear Lin,

My husband and I recently had a drop leaf table and a library table restored and repaired by you and your staff.

The drop leaf table had been in my mother’s garage for years. This table meant a lot to me because it was the one that was in the kitchen in the house where I grew up. It is now my dining room table. The workmanship of all involved was wonderful. That table brings back such warm memories, like making pretzels and cookies, eating with Dad (who passed away in 1974) and Mom, and playing cards with the gang.

The library table came to you painted white. I believe that there were several colors below the white. Once all of the layers were removed, we came to pick up the table, and it was amazing to see. The table has a golden glow and has been restored to its original state. It is now in our library room. It is beautiful.

I wanted to let you know how pleased my husband and I were with the three pieces of furniture you refinished for us. You did a beautiful job stripping and selecting the stain color for the two antique chairs from the Bedford Springs Hotel, and the re-caning job that your mother did on the chair seats is excellent. The smaller weave must have been particularly difficult but matches the chair back perfectly.

We were especially delighted with the restoration job you did on my grandmother’s old loveseat. The new stain and upholstery seem to me to duplicate the original, just as I wished. The expert restoration of the previously hidden mother of pearl inlay on the back was an added bonus.

We cerainly will not hesitate to bring any additional pieces to you in the future.

While walking through the burned and water soaked rubble of my beloved little retirement home, tears streamed down my face, as I glanced over the few pieces that I had carefully selected before my husband and I left our big house and moved to the little house. Most of these things were sentimental and some were just loved. Then, a name came to me. It was mentioned by my Nationwide Insurance adjuster, Lin’s Touch of Elegance. I was hoping she would be able to help me. As I looked at the mess again I began to doubt that she could.

She really surprised me when she came on such short notice. Carefully, she began to choose a few things that I thought were totally destroyed. Her kindness and new hope began to lift my own spirit, as she loaded all the items onto her truck. She restored all of the items, in record time, back to their original beauty. Lin also replaced many items similar to those I lost, some from her shop and some by taking the time to find things very similar to the ones I had. Her prices were great and she was a true professional. There really are no words to show how grateful I am that Lin was there to help, she is a great lady.

Thank you so much for restoring an old piece of furniture to its rightful status as precious family heirloom. After we brought my grandmother Clark’s 100 year old kitchen hutch up from the old family home in Arkansas we knew we wanted to redo the dingy, wobbly kitchen hutch so we could more fully enjoy it. We considered handling the task ourselves.  We never dreamed that these pieces has a name and therefore, we found you, learned what we really had, and then made the right decision to have a professional do the work.

We are overwhelmed by the wonderful job you and the staff in your store did in restoring our Hoosier. It left our house as an object suffering from nearly 60 years of neglect in a farm house and returned from you wonderful care as a beautiful sideboard for our dining room. The obvious care and workmanship that went into the restoration are immediately apparent. All of the tinned boxes look beautiful without the old coats of paint. The glass doors have been cleaned and returned to their old glory. The careful paint job, and the parts you found for the flour bin and sifter, completed the entire piece, and made the kitchen hutch such a joy for us.

Mary and I both sat around all that afternoon just looking and marveling at what has suddenly become the single most precious piece of furniture in our house. We intent to take some films to send to my mother so she can see what her mother’s baking center has become. We can’t thank you enough for a wonderful job. It demonstrated to us that is essential to have a professional handle items of family history that cannot be replaced. If you ever need a reference from a satisfied customer, give us a call. We are still just smiling with the pleasure of our beautifully restored Hoosier.
